Crumbled Blue Cheese
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 1/2 cups onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cup Granny Smith apple, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 2 teaspoons fresh rosemary, chopped
- Salt and pepper
- 16 ounces ground beef
- 1 1/4 cup Treasure Cave® Crumbled Blue Cheese, divided
- 8 onion rolls
Directions
In a medium skillet over medium-high heat, melt the butter. Add the onions, reduce the heat to medium-low and sauté for 10 minutes. Add the apples and sauté an additional 10 minutes, until the onions are golden. Remove from the heat and stir in the vinegar and rosemary. Salt and pepper to taste and then set aside.
Meanwhile, form the beef into 8 thin patties. Top 4 patties with 1/4 cup each of the Treasure Cave® Crumbled Blue Cheese. Cover each with a second patty and press the edges to seal. Oil and prepare the grill for medium direct heat.
Grill the burgers for 8–10 minutes, until fully cooked, turning once. Place the rolls cut side down on the grill and toast them for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
To assemble the burgers, place the bun bottoms on a cutting board. Place the burgers on each bun and divide the apple compote evenly over the burgers. Then, sprinkle each with the remaining Treasure Cave® Crumbled Blue Cheese and place the bun lids on top. Serve warm.
