Wisconsin Butter Burger with Gorgonzola Cheese

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups of Treasure Cave Crumbled Gorgonzola Cheese or Crumbled Blue Cheese
  • 36 ounces of ground beef to make 6 patties
  • 6 hamburger buns
  • Half of a yellow onion
  • 6 slices of lettuce
  • 6 tablespoons of mayo
  • 3 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Garlic salt to taste

Directions

  1. In a large serving bowl, mix 1 egg, salt, pepper and ground beef. Divide into 6 equal balls and flatten into patties.
  2. Season patties with salt, pepper and garlic salt. Set aside.
  3. Cut hamburger buns in half.
  4. Spread half a tablespoon of butter on the top bun and half a tablespoon of mayo on the bottom bun.
  5. Slice onion and lettuce into single servings. Add a slice of lettuce and 1-3 onions to each bottom bun.
  6. Grill burgers to your liking. We prefer a Wisconsin temperature of 140 degrees, about 5 minutes each side at 450 degrees F.
  7. Two minutes before taking burgers off the grill, add a quarter cup of Treasure Cave crumbled blue or Gorgonzola cheese to the top of each burger, letting the cheese melt slightly.
  8. Put burger patties on lower buns. patty on the lower bun. Add top buns and enjoy!
